Here are a few things you can do to ensure your child's success:
- Start Early – The journey to your child's success starts early. Ensure your child's readiness for school. Before kindergarten, interact with your children; read and speak with them and help them to develop listening and communication skills; Ensure your child's health with regular medical screenings and examinations.
- Take An Active Role in Your Child's Education – Being involved can be anything from reading to your infant every day, helping your 8th grader set post-graduation goals, volunteering at her school, or encouraging her to take rigorous coursework that better prepares her for success in postsecondary education, career, and life.
- Take an Interest in Your Child's Future – Talk to your children about their personal and professional goals. Download this"Louisiana Career Planning Guide," or go to LA ePortal.com and KnowHow2GoLouisiana.org and begin to learn about current and future career options and the education students will need to attain them. Help your children map out the courses they will need to take in order to graduate and be prepared to succeed beyond high school.
- Stay Engaged – Nurture and stay engaged in your child's progress. Encourage them to study hard and reach high.
