Strategic Partners
The first commitment in our "Contract With Louisiana" is to be a platform for partnerships – a connector of Louisiana's education, government, and business leadership as a force supporting school improvement. We strive to change the question that governs the interaction between education leadership and the community as a whole from What can you do for us? to What can we do together to educate all children well? In communities all across Louisiana, organizations are working with that common goal in mind. Education's Next Horizon strategically partners with the following education supporters and reform organizations to pursue solutions and share information and other resources in our effort to "connect" Louisiana around education improvement:
The mission of the Picard Center is to provide high-quality, rigorous evaluations of programs that address learning from birth to adulthood and to investigate ways to bring scientifically based research to bear on public policy. The Picard Center is a strong partner in Louisiana's Promise and in the work of the Stakeholder Council Early Childhood Education Workgroup.
The Louisiana Association of United Ways (LAUW) represents 12 United Way Agencies throughout Louisiana. Each is committed to enhancing the human service delivery systems necessary to ensure the economic health of our state. The mission of LAUW is to increase the organized capacity of Louisiana United Way organizations. The purpose of LAUW is to foster and enable the provision of efficient and effective community services for the citizens of the service area. The LAUW is a strong partner in Louisiana's Promise and is helping to engage and convene school districts and community leaders across the state to develop local solutions to the dropout problem.
Formed as an independent 501 (c)3 nonprofit in 2000, the Alliance For Education serves as a framework organization to bring together people, organizations and resources focused on improving local public education systems in seven parishes in Northwest Louisiana (Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Webster, Red River, Claiborne and Bienville). The Alliance fosters programs, projects and public policy efforts designed to seek systemic improvement for all children. The Alliance places improved student achievement at the core of everything they do.
